Two decades of helping small businesses understand their numbers.
Sagebooks is led by Katerina Ianovskaia — HBA from the Ivey Business School, twenty years of accounting experience, and a working-toward-CPA designation.
★ 20+ yrs
I started Sagebooks because I kept seeing the same gap with small business owners: their books were getting done, but the numbers weren't being explained. Owners would tell me they had no real visibility into their business, even when they had a bookkeeper. That's not a software problem — it's an approach problem.
Real-world business experience
Over the past 20+ years I've worked across industries — fitness and health businesses, construction and trades, independent clinics, and a wide range of service providers. That breadth means I can quickly understand how a new client's business model works, where the financial pressure points are, and what the levers for improvement usually look like.
I hold an HBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University, which gave me a foundation in business strategy, financial management, and operations. Combined with hands-on experience, it lets me bring both practical and strategic thinking to every client.
More than bookkeeping
Most bookkeepers focus on recording transactions. My approach goes further: understanding how your business actually operates, interpreting your financial data in a way that makes sense, and providing ongoing, practical guidance based on your numbers. I don't just tell you what happened last month — I help you understand what to do next.
A personal, hands-on approach
I work closely with each client and take the time to understand their business in detail. For local businesses in Mississauga, Oakville, Brampton, and Milton, I offer in-person onboarding visits whenever possible — because seeing how a business actually operates is the fastest way to provide tailored support.
Tools & professional development
I work primarily in QuickBooks Online with a strong focus on clean, reliable financial systems. I'm currently advancing toward the CPA designation, because continuous learning matters — and so does being able to support clients with the most current best practices.
